St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Country Fair

Nestled in the Squire Oak neighborhood on the lawn of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton County Fair provides a weekend of fun, games, carnival rides, live music and other activities (including a massive rummage sale and 5K Run).

Harry Dean Stanton Fest Saturday Film Screenings: “Rango,” “Rancho Deluxe” and “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me”

Hosted by the Lexington Film League, the 5th annual celebration of Kentucky native actor Harry Dean Stanton and his work will take place May 29 – 31. Click here for a full schedule of the weekend’s events, which culminate with special guest, legendary director Monte Hellman, who will take part in a Q&A following the screening of his film “Ride in the Whirlwind” on Sunday, May 31.

Saturday’s events include three film screenings at the Farish Theatre, followed by a special “Twin Peaks” Homecoming Dance at the Green Lantern with music provided by Palisades with an all-star guest line-up.

Harry Dean Stanton Festival: “Ride the Whirlwind” screening followed by Q&A with director Monte Hellman

As part of the 5th annual Harry Dean Stanton Festival, the Kentucky Theater will host a screening of the 1966 outlaw cowboy film “Ride the Whirlwind,” starring and written by Jack Nicholson (and also featuring Cameron Mitchell and of course, Stanton).

A Q&A with legendary director Monte Hellman, who directed the film (as well as “Two-Lane Blacktop,” “Cockfighter” and more), moderated by former Boston Globe critic Michael Blowen, will follow.

Pints For A Purpose at Best Friend Bar

Pints for a Purpose, a benefit for Lexington Art League will be hosted at Best Friend Bar by the Local Potters of Lexington.

The Local Potters, including David Kring, Amelia Daniel Stamps, Melisa Beth Ceramics, Link Henderson, Luke Gnadinger, Leah Combs, Amanda Bridges and Steve Heartsill will be selling their handcrafted ceramic pints, proceeds from which will go to benefit further artistic programming at Lexington Art League. A portion of food & drink purchases from Best Friend Bar will also be donated to LAL.

The pint sale will take place from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and at 6:00 pm* beloved locals Coralee and The Townies will be playing an evening set and Best Friend Bar will be providing an assortment of dinner menu specials.
