The Jazz Arts Foundation and the Lexington Public Library continue their “Jazz: Live at the Library!” series of monthly concerts at the Central Library Theatre in downtown Lexington.
Show #69 features UNIT WEST, an organ quartet admittedly influenced by organist Larry Young’s album “Unity”. UNIT meaning Unity, and WEST for their names: Whalen, Eans, Snyder and Tiemann. On drums and organ respectively, Jason Tiemann and Steve Snyder lay down a funky, swinging, greasy groove that is the perfect foil for the front line, Whalen on tenor saxophone and Kris Eans on trumpet. This grooving subculture makes every note count and promises to be an excitedly different sounding show than the norm.
