Gallery Hop: “Inspiration” exhibit at First Presbyterian Church Gallery

« Back to Events

Our current exhibit is entitled “Inspiration” with wood portraits and works by Mick Shambro of Lexington, KY.

Artist’s statement: This exhibit is inspired by two themes, faith and nature’s beauty. To me these themes are intrinsically interwoven; both bring forth feelings of awe and joy. I specialize in designing and creating wooden art portraits. I believe I have a unique ability to bring a piece of wood to life and to convey more than just a two dimensional image. If the viewer has an emotional response to my work, I have done my job well.
My wooden portraits are my own designs. They are all hand-cut (scrolled), using a scroll-saw. I am self-taught, and my experience has been gained through thousands of hours of trial and error. – Mick Shambro

“Inspiration” is on display through November 30, 2012 and included in the November 16 Gallery Hop.
