As philosopher Simon Critchley states, “…..death comes into the world to us through the death of others and so the question of grief is key in the relation between death and love..”
Over the course of the past semester, 14 University of Kentucky Advanced Art students students read texts ranging from Plato, Critchley, C.S. Lewis and others about death and grief and created artwork around this topic. This show is a culmination of the semester’s work and according to Doreen Maloney, director of graduate studies at the UK Art Department, much of it is stunning, thoughtful, and surprisingly not grim.
