At a press conference this morning, representatives from the Lexington Area Music Alliance announced plans for a weeklong showcase of bluegrass music to coincide with this summer’s 40th annual Festival of the Bluegrass, which takes place June 3-8 at the Kentucky Horse Park. In the week leading up to the Festival, several already-existing Lexington venues and music series – including Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, the Southland Jamboree, Thursday Night Live and Red Barn Radio – will feature live bluegrass music, creating a critical mass designed to draw attention to Lexington’s music scene and resources.
